Many Rondebosch residents have been saddened by the sight of the empty Cocoa Wah Wah store on Main Road, as the long-standing establishment has been forced to close its doors amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

After 15 years of providing students with a warm and welcoming place to do their work and allowing Rondebosch residents to enjoy fresh and delicious meals, Cocoa Wah Wah has come to an end.

On March 23, Cocoa Cape Town announced that their stores would temporarily close to ensure the safety of staff and patrons. A post on their Facebook page urged those who love the stores to help them support their staff during this difficult time.

Those wanting to support this iconic group of restaurants and their staff can do so by donating to their GoGetFunding page here.

The space many love and know as Cocoa Wah Wah has since been put on the market for rent.

Luckily for those who love Cocoa Cape Town, their Observatory store Cocoa Cha Chi is still open and can be visited to experience the same vibe and great food.

This is just one of many Cape Town favourites that have been forced to throw in the towel as South Africa’s lockdown continues. Capetonians are reminded to support local business and stores during this tough time, together we can get through all the challenges that still lie ahead.
